Lessons from Juneteenth: Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future

Freedom delayed is not freedom denied.

Juneteenth teaches us that the fight for justice must continue until freedom truly reaches everyone.

Knowledge is liberation.

The truth empowers. Juneteenth reminds us that sharing knowledge is a vital step toward equity and lasting systemic change.

Celebrate. Reflect. Continue the work.

Juneteenth is more than a holiday, it’s a reminder to celebrate progress while actively pursuing justice and unity every day.

About the Show

One Voice: A Black History Narrative is a one-man theatrical performance by JDew, celebrating the voices of iconic Black leaders like Frederick Douglass, Malcolm X, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., James Weldon Johnson, Muhammad Ali, and Barack Obama.

In addition to these portrayals, the show incorporates video vignettes that reflect the wisdom, strength, and lived experiences of Black elders from South Carolina and beyond. These real-life moments offer a deeply personal connection to the history being honored.

The Juneteenth edition is a powerful virtual experience, historical storytelling, and real-life reflections, meant to educate, inspire, and connect.
